01 The brief
Maren Holst is a wildlife and landscape photographer whose work we follow. Her existing portfolio is built on a templated photographer-focused platform — competent, but it flattens the work. We rebuilt the site as an editorial magazine to see what the photographs would look like with the layout they deserve.
02 The approach
01
Full-bleed hero, generous gutters
Each image gets the room a magazine spread would give it. Captions sit in the margin with EXIF metadata — focal length, shutter, aperture — so technically literate viewers see the craft and casual viewers see the picture.
02
An indexed selected-works gallery
Instead of an infinite-scroll grid, the gallery is paginated by series with a contents-page index. This treats the body of work as a portfolio you read, not a feed you scroll.
03
A featured series spread
The home page hands one current series the full-width treatment with editorial typography — title, dek, and a paragraph of writing from Maren. The site behaves like an issue with a cover story.
04
A real print shop on the back end
Limited-edition prints on Hahnemühle Photo Rag with edition numbers, archival certificates, and Stripe checkout. A working commerce surface, not a 'contact for prints' link.

04 What we'd ship next
We sent the deployment over and never heard back. We keep it up at beautiful-3.vercel.app to show the kind of work we'd ship for an editorial / portfolio client.
